Pediatric Massage (Ages 7-17 yrs old)
Children’s bodies are constantly developing. School aged children have less developed soft tissue, muscle and bones than an adult’s body. A pediatric massage session will be slower paced with shorter sessions. The pressure is lighter to accommodate the growing body and draping is more conservative to ensure trust and respect. Every massage session is uniquely designed around the specific needs of the child at that moment.
Kids endure postural strains every day just like we do – they use heavy backpacks, they tend to slouch when sitting at school, playing video games and/or on computers. They also participate in physical sports much more frequently these days (3-5 times a week for some competitive activities like dance, hockey, soccer, etc.) that results in muscle strains and sports injuries. Massage therapy provides comfort, relaxation and symptomatic relief from chronic conditions such as asthma, nausea, constipation and chronic muscle aches.
